Disease Within was formed in the summer of 2008 by Mark, former drummer of Bauls of Bengal DC, who had several releases in the 80s and 90s and played throughout the Washington DC region. Mark and Mic have been friends since the early 90s and Mark asked Mic if he had any free time for a new musical project. In August 2008 the writing process began for a new band and a new CD release.
This new CD brings the Jazz influences of both Mic and Mark together with their love of classic Metal and Punk. It is filled with lyrics that provide a cynical take on today's society. Every listener seems to draw a different feel from the music, some equating it to the newer stylings of System of a Down and their peers, while others hear classic Black Sabbath, and still others identify a heavier post-hardcore sound. It has been compared to Tool, Corrosion of Conformity, Nirvana, Pantera... some have even called it Frank Zappa gone heavy. Whatever it is it stays with you after you hear it, like a disease…something you can’t get out of your head.
After the CD was released a phenominal bass player joined Disease Within, Cody Hagins, bringing a amzing six string bass skills to the band. He has been a key to our live show success, and was instrumental in changing parts of songs for the tour to make them even better. We can't wait to get into teh studio with him.
Mark left the band in 2009 due to personal reasons.
